Music Director 2017
Sebastian Cox had already received much acclaim as a singer by the age of 12 for his Gramophone Award winning solo solo with the New College Choir. Perhaps best known to the community through his lead role in the Department of Music’s recent production of Monteverdi’s ‘L’Orfeo,’ Sebastian is also an aspiring filmmaker and a passionate sculptor. He founded and directed the original members of Decem in 2017, leading the group through a series of original concerts.
Kaamya Varagur is a scientist and singer pursuing a medical degree at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis after completing her MPhil at the Cambridge Centre for Music and Science in 2019 where she sang with the King's Voices directed by Ben Parry. At Princeton University, she majored in neuroscience with a certificate in vocal performance. In addition to singing with Decem, she served as music director of the all-female a cappella group, Tigressions, and was a member of the Glee Club and Chamber Choir.
Kristin Hauge is currently serving as a music teacher in the high schools of the West Windsor-Plainsboro school district in New Jersey. She graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Music in 2018 and earned her New Jersey Teacher Certification in 2019 through Princeton's Teacher Preparation Program. An avid composer, Kristin was commissioned to write unique arrangements for Decem and compositions for the Glee Club and Symphonia during her time at Princeton. She also sang with the Glee Club and Chamber choir, as well as playing with the Princeton Pianists Ensemble and playing violin in Symphonia.
Music Director 2018
Sergei Tugarinov co-founded of Decem with Sebastian Cox and served as the group's music director from 2018-2019. At Princeton, he concentrated in the Woodrow Wilson School and sang in the Princeton University Glee Club and Chamber Choir. Since graduation, Sergei has been working at an educational consulting startup that works to get high schoolers from New Zealand, UK, Russia, and Europe into their dream universities.
Ryan Melosini served as Decem's president form 2018-2019. At Princeton, he concentrated in the Woodrow Wilson School, played for the Varsity Water Polo Team, and sang in the Princeton University Glee Club, Chamber Choir, and Nassoons. Ryan is now living and working in finance in New York City.
Caroline Zhao graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Economics with a certificate in finance. During her time at Princeton, Caroline sang in The Princeton Tiger lilies, the Princeton University Glee Club, Chamber Choir, and several of the university's operas. She was also a part of the Princeton Volleyball Club and Princeton Faith and Action. Currently, Caroline is living and working in New York City.
